BRITISH CRAFT DISTILLER COMES TO ASIA WITH LONDON MADE WHISKIES AND HK EDITION GIN

British craft spirits producer London Distillery Company (LDC) is entering the Asian market with a portfolio including the first single malt whisky produced in London in a century and the Hong Kong edition of the Kew brand gin flavoured by botanicals sourced from the Kew Gardens.

The London-based distillery has recently secured distribution deals for its spirits brands for a number of Asian markets. It has signed distribution agreements with Drinks99 and Brand Connect in the region.

Drinks 99 will handle the company’s full portfolio, which also includes Dodd's Gin, in Hong Kong and Macau, while Brand Connect will cover six markets in Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and Singapore.

The agreements come against the backdrop of "increased demand for British craft spirits" in Asia, according to LDC.

At the same time, the distiller’s Kew Hong Kong Edition Gin, produced using botanicals sourced from London's Kew Royal Botanical Gardens, is now available at Hong Kong International Airport through Lagadere.

"In addition to this," LDC said, "The London Distillery Co has identified opportunities in India and the USA for its craft spirits. These will be the next target international markets for the business."

The distiller has recently launched a whisky called 109 Cask Edition, which it said is the first single malt whisky produced in London in a century.

The launch followed the company’s release of its already sold-out Rye Whisky LV-1767 last year, which it claimed was the first whiskey distilled in the capital in 100 years.

The LDC is a boutique craft distiller located in a touristy part of London just a short walk from Tower Bridge. It is home to three copper stills each creating a distinct spirit type.
