The French organiser of Vinexpo Hong Kong said the 2020 show will go ahead in May as scheduled despite the social unrest which has disrupted the Asian financial hub in the last seven months.

The 3-day show will take place from 26th to 28th May as planned, according to Vinexpo CEO Rodolphe Lameyse.

Lameyse said Vinexpo Hong Kong is an important and popular show and he has confidence in this year’s show in terms of what it will achieve.

Vinexpo is expecting the May show to cover 12,000 sq meters of exhibition area, down from 13,000 sq meters in the last show in 2018.

The Hong Kong show is a bi-annual wine exhibition and is seen as an important networking opportunity for the wine trade in the Asia-Pacific region.

This year, Chile will be the show’s “Country of Honour” and more exhibitors can be expected from the South American country.

Meanwhile, Vinexpo will hold the second edition of Vinexpo Shanghai in October after the successful debut show last year.

For the first time in Vinexpo’s history, two shows will be held in Greater China region in the same year in 2020.

Scheduled to be held from 23rd to 25th October, the Shanghai show is a good opportunity for China importers to finalise their orders for Chinese New Year which normally falls on January or February.
