The rescheduled ProWine Asia (Singapore) 2020 will be moved to 2 - 5 March 2021, while organiser of China’s Chengdu wine and spirits fair announced that the show will take place 21 - 23 May this year. The Hong Kong on-trade, on the other hand, can continue to sell alcohol.
ProWine Asia 2020’s joint organisers, Messe Düsseldorf Asia and Informa Markets, said the 2021 show will be held alongside FHA-Food & Beverage show at Singapore Expo.
“The decision is right and responsible in view of the latest developments and this postponement of ProWine Asia (Singapore) to 2021 is unavoidable. We believe it is in the best interest of all our exhibitors, visitors, staff, and Singapore as host country to reschedule the trade fair to next year,” said Gernot Ringling, Managing Director, Messe Düsseldorf Asia.
This year’s ProWine Asia show was originally scheduled to be held from 31 March to 3 April in Singapore. It was earlier rescheduled to 13 to 16 July, but now the organisers decided to move it to next year.
It is not immediately clear if the ProWine Asia 2021 Hong Kong show will still go ahead.
In China, however, organiser of the Chengdu wine and spirits fair - the biggest of its kind in mainland China - has announced the rescheduled date of 21 - 23 May for this year’s fair.
The 2020 Chengdu show was originally scheduled to be held in March.
Meanwhile in Hong Kong, the government has dropped its earlier plan of banning on-trade alcohol sale. Instead, the government will ban public gatherings of 4 people or more, the city’s hospitality sector will have to observe this rule.
