The German wine and spirits trade show organiser ProWein is planning a return to normal trade show schedule from next month after more than a year of cancellations of physical shows.

In Asia, the organiser will go ahead with its Hong Kong show, Prowine Hong Kong, from 7 to 9 September.

The show will be held alongside with HOFEX, Asia’s leading trade fair for Food & Hospitality. Due to Hong Kong’s strict COVID quarantine rules, ProWine Hong Kong will be held with a limited number of exhibitors.

However, Prowein said a comprehensive line-up of events has been planned in cooperation with Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET), Asia Wine and Service Education Centre (AWSEC) and Decanter Magazine.

The Hong Kong show will be followed by the ProWine Shanghai show, to be held from 9 to 11 November.

Also in November, the German organiser will debut its ProWine Mumbai show which is scheduled to be held from 17 to 18 November.

Prowein also said the next ProWine Singapore show, which has always been held in alternate years with the Hong Kong show, will bee run from 10 to 13 May in 2022.

“Over the past months numerous events had to be postponed and cancelled throughout the entire world. Any trade fair we can offer means a spark of hope for the industry,” says Bastian Mingers, Director ProWein, summarising current developments.

“We handle the situation very responsibly and strictly comply with all the rules so as to guarantee the highest degree of safety possible,” Mingers added.

Elsewhere in the world, preparations for ProWein’s flagship show in Düsseldorf was said to be in full swing and is expected to be held from 27 to 29 March 2022 in Düsseldorf.

Meanwhile, the second edition of the ProWine Sao Paulo show will be held from 5 to 7 October, after being suspended in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
