A European Union funded three-year campaign to promote and educate Asian wine lovers on sustainable wines from Italy and Spain has been rolled out, the main target markets include China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and Vietnam.

This project was born from the joint work of the Italian Consorzio Tutela Vini d’Abruzzo, Consorzio Barbera d’Asti and Vini del Monferrato, together with the Regulatory Board of the La Mancha Designation of Origin in Spain.

Financed by the European Union, the campaign was supposed to have started last year and would last for 3 years.

The aims of the campaign are to increase knowledge of the participating wine appellations and to promote and educate Asian consumers on European sustainable wines.

But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, majority of the promotional activities could not take place last year.

The first and the only event having taken place happened in China last November in the city of Qingtian in the coastal Zhejiang province.

A masterclass entitled “European Sustainable Wines: Taste, Feel, Enjoy Europe” was held during the Qwine Expo in which the attendees were able to enjoy and learn more about the sustainable wines made in the participating Italian and Spanish appellations.
