EIGHT ASIAN RESTAURANTS ON 50 BEST RESTAURANTS LIST, SINGAPORE & HK MADE TO TOP TEN

Eight Asian restaurants made to the World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards 2021. Singapore’s Odette took the No.8 spot while Hong Kong’s The Chairman made to No.10.
Odette is a fine-dining French restaurant by chef Julien Royer, and also the Best Restaurant in Asia, having climbed 10 spots to come in at No. 8.
The Chairman is a Cantonese restaurant in Hong Kong’s Central district, renowned for its authentic and ingredients-driven cuisine.
Having risen an impressive 31 places from its previous ranking, The Chairman was also recipient of the Highest Climber Award.
The title of the world’s best restaurant goes to Noma in Copenhagen. It manages to defend the crown after coming in at No. 1 in the 2020 list. Coming in at No. 2 is Geranium, also a Copenhagen-based restaurant.
There are a total of 8 Asian restaurants on this year’s list of best 50 restaurants. Apart from Odette and The Chairman, Tokyo-based Den came in at No.11, Narisawa at 19 and Florilège at 39.
Another Singapore-based restaurant Burnt Ends made the No.34 spot, followed by Shanghai-based Ultraviolet at No.35 and Bangkok-based Suhring at No.40.
Outside of Asia, other notable entries include Spain’s Amador Etxebarri at No.3, Central in Peru (also the best restaurant in South America) at No. 4 and Disfrutar from Barcelona at No. 5.
Held in Antwerp of Belgium on 5th October, The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards 2021 was voted by an influential group of more than 1,000 culinary experts made up of food writers, critics and chefs.
