Jointly organised by Messe Düsseldorf Asia and Informa Markets, ProWine Singapore will take place 5 to 8 September this year and then again from 25 to 28 April in 2023 at the Singapore Expo, both years concurrently with FHA – Food & Beverage trade show.

Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf Asia, Gernot Ringling, said ProWine Singapore’s change in cycle for the next few years is an important milestone for the growth and development of the trade fair in order to continue to meet growing customer demand and serve global markets.

“The last edition was held in 2018, thus the new schedule will offer more business value and ensure that participants can maximise opportunities all year round. This move will also enable us to provide better portfolio strategies across the wines, spirits and alcohol market that will benefit our customers as they look to Asia to expand their investment presence.”

“In a business landscape that has changed with the recent global events, we understand the need to adapt and evolve. By pivoting our show to an annual platform, we provide the opportunity for a stronger presence to industry professionals to cater to their business growth. By annualising ProWine Singapore and FHA, we are providing an annual platform to bring together Asia’s food and drink industry,” said Ian Roberts, Vice President of Informa Markets Asia.

Messe Düsseldorf said preparation for ProWine Singapore 2022 is in full swing, with a robust showing of international wine and spirit labels, wine driven technology solutions and masterclass series by renowned experts planned.

They said many wine growing regions of the world will be represented at ProWine Singapore, including country pavilions and groups from Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Spain.

Trade visitors will include distributors and importers, professionals from specialist and food retail, hospitality, food service and catering as well as decision makers from the airline and hotels sector.

Before the pandemic, Messe Düsseldorf held their Prowine Asia shows in Hong Kong and Singapore in alternate years.

Messe Düsseldorf has originally scheduled ProWine Asia 2022 in Hong Kong this year, but later decided to hold the show in Singapore because of Hong Kong’s strict quarantine policy.

According to the company website, both Hong Kong and Singapore will host their own ProWine shows in 2023, indicating a change in the pre-pandemic ProWine Asia format to prefer more localised and smaller scale trade shows.

Elsewhere in Asia, Messe Düsseldorf has scheduled ProWine Shanghai from 8 to 10 November this year. Given Shanghai’s COVID situation and China’s tight grip on zero COVID policy, it is difficult to predict whether this show will eventually pull off.

The company has also scheduled ProWine Mumbai on 17 to 18 October 2022 after the successful debut last year.
