Chandon India, part of the French luxury giant LVMH, has released a limited edition of Chandon Vintage 2015 to celebrate its 10th anniversary of making sparkling wine in India.
The wine is made from the inaugural grape harvested at the company’s winery in Nashik, it represents the brand’s decade-long journey in India, showcasing its evolution from the first grape to being a benchmark of Indian wine making.
Priced at INR 6,000 (USD71), this limited edition is handcrafted with only 1200 individually numbered bottles. They will be available at the Chandon Nashik winery and select premium retail partners in Mumbai. Personalised options will also be available at select outlets.
Chandon Vintage 2015 is described as offering a harmonious tension between freshness and complexity, with dry floral, peach, and grapey notes layered with the richness of baked apple, pastry, and toasty nuances.
The Chardonnay adds vibrancy, while Zinfandel contributes richness. The wine’s complexity comes from extended yeast ageing of eight years, bringing out earthy, pastry, and cheese rind notes, while the low dosage highlights its profound, textural creaminess.
“The Vintage 2015 is a wine crafted to elevate any moment, from casual gatherings to truly unforgettable occasions,” said Kaushal Khairnar, Winemaker at Chandon India.
Chandon India’s winery nestled in the foothills of Nashik is the first large investment made by LVMH in India.
Since entering into the Indian market in 2014, Chandon has forged a new category in luxury sparkling wines in the country, reshaping a landscape dominated by traditional spirits and rituals.
