International auction house Christie’s officially opened its new Asia Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong providing the company with in-house space to hold auctions throughout the year.
Spanning 50,000 square feet across the 6th to 9th floors of The Henderson in Hong Kong’s Central District, the new regional headquarters will offer a year-round calendar of art and luxury auctions.
The company said the new headquarters will position Christie’s to meet the increasing market demand for art and luxury from the region as well as globally, affirming Christie’s leadership in and commitment to Asia and to Hong Kong.
It said Hong Kong is an ideal location to curate sales that offer a dynamic dialogue between masterpieces from the East and West.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on the opening day, officiated by François Pinault, Director of the Christie's Board, Guillaume Cerutti, CEO of Christie’s and Francis Belin, President of Christie’s Asia Pacific.
“The opening of Christie’s new Asia Pacific headquarters is a milestone moment in our 250-year history and reflects the integral and influential position the region holds in the global art and luxury market. At this new home, Christie’s will drive the future of collecting in Asia and advance how we bridge East and West for our clients worldwide,” said Christie’s CEO Cerutti.
“With one integrated hub at The Henderson, we have the long-needed flexibility to hold sales and activities in-house throughout the year, and expand our scope for creative exhibitions, innovation, and educational programmes, enabling us to make significant progress towards our sustainability goals.”
“Now, clients and audiences can participate in our auctions, view masterpieces in our galleries, and meet our specialists all in one place, elevating our level of service to a new global standard. We welcome everyone to visit us and experience the new space for themselves,” said Christie’s Asia Pacific President Belin.
