British wine distributor Bancroft Wine acquired Bodegas Javier San Pedro in the Rioja Alavesa region, with a view to meet the increasing demand for Rioja wines in the Asian market.

Bancroft Wine is the planning to launch of a limited edition 500ml small bottle format of Rioja for the Asian market.

In Asia, consumers often prefer smaller bottles for convenience for individual consumption.

The acquisition of Bodegas Javier San Pedro provides Bancroft Wine with access to a rich portfolio of Rioja wines.

The Rioja Alavesa region is renowned for its unique terroir, which imparts distinct flavours and characteristics to the wines produced there.

With a rapidly expanding middle class and rising disposable incomes, the demand for premium wines has been growing steadily in Asia recent years.
