Bangkok’s Gaggan took the crown of Asia’s best restaurant for a remarkable fifth time in the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025 awards held on 25 March in Seoul.
Under the creative leadership of chef-owner Gaggan Anand, the restaurant has long been a trailblazer in the culinary world, blending innovative Indian flavours with influences from Japan, France, and Thailand.
The current iteration of Gaggan, located in Bangkok’s Wattana district since 2019, offers a 20-course tasting menu that is as much a sensory adventure as it is a dining experience.
Hong Kong’s The Chairman came in at number two, while Wing, a contemporary Chinese eatery led by chef-owner Vicky Cheng, claimed the third spot.
Cheng also received the Inedit Damm Chefs’ Choice Award, a peer-voted honor recognizing her culinary prowess.
Tokyo and Bangkok emerged as the cities with the most representation on the list, each boasting nine restaurants.
In Tokyo, Sézanne, which had held the top spot in 2023, dropped to fourth place this year. Other notable Tokyo entries included Narisawa at number 12, Florilège at 17, and Den at 22.
Bangkok’s diverse culinary landscape was further showcased with restaurants like Nusara (number 6), Suhring (11) and Potong (13).
Singapore has seven restaurants on the list, led by Odette, which climbed three places to number seven. Since its opening in 2015 at the National Gallery Singapore, Odette has been a mainstay in the top 10.
French fine-dining restaurant Les Amis also made a significant jump, ascending 10 places to land at number 28.
This year’s Asia 50 Best Restaurants is its 13th edition, it was voted by a panel of 350 industry experts, including food writers, critics, chefs, restaurateurs and regional culinary leaders.
