South Korea’s Golden Blue International announced that it has officially begun sales of the limited-edition “Kavalan Solist Madeira Cask,” to commemorate 2026, the Year of the Red Horse.
The special edition was jointly developed by Golden Blue International and Taiwan’s King Car Group, according to the Seoul-based spirit company.
Created exclusively for the South Korean market, the release is limited to just 383 bottles, a rarity that has drawn strong interest from whisky enthusiasts even before its official launch.
Golden Blue notes that Kavalan Solist Madeira Cask is matured in Madeira wine casks sourced from Madeira Island, a subtropical volcanic island off the southern coast of Portugal.
It adds that the island’s intense ageing environment, shaped by its warm climate, amplifies the distinctive characteristics of the Madeira casks when combined with Kavalan’s proprietary distillation techniques, resulting in a richer and more expressive flavour profile.
The limited edition is crafted using select spirit personally chosen by Kavalan’s master blender, underscoring the brand’s emphasis on quality.
“The launch of Kavalan marks an important milestone for strengthening its presence in the Korean whisky market,” Golden Blue CEO Park So-young said.
“We plan to continue introducing distinctive and collectible releases to enhance brand recognition and further solidify our position in the premium whisky segment.”
Kavalan Solist Madeira Cask has an alcohol content ranging from 50 percent to 62.6 percent and comes in a 700-milliliter bottle.
