Singapore Airlines will turn a grounded A380 superjumbo jet into a pop-up restaurant next month to serve customers their signature meals with alcoholic drinks recommended by air sommeliers.

Named Restaurant A380@Changi, the pop-up service will take place on 24 and 25 October, bookings can be made through the airline’s KrisShop website from 12 October.

The airline has scrapped plans to offer “flights to nowhere” to take passengers over Southeast Asia’s iconic scenaries and then back at Changi Airport out of consideration of the environmental impacts.

The pop-up restaurant allows for diners to choose for cabin class, each class has its choice of special menus. Options include the airline’s signature international cuisine, as well as its special Peranakan menu designed by acclaimed Singaporean chef Shermay Lee.

To complete the experience, the airline’s air sommeliers will recommend fine wines to accompany the meals. Each meal comes with two complimentary alcoholic drinks and free flow of other beverages.

Limited slots for an exclusive pre-lunch tour of the A380 will also be available. All diners will receive KrisShop discounts, a limited edition goodie bag and additional gifts if they turn up in traditional heritage costumes.

Delivery services are also available for diners who want to enjoy the meal at home instead. Open for booking from 5 October, interested customers can choose from 10 menus featuring the airline’s first class and business class dishes which will complete with a bottle of wine or champagne.

Over two weekends in Singapore’s November school holidays, the airline will provide an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of their training facilities to families who will be able to interact with pilots and cabin crew. Bookings open on 1 November, and the tours will be held on 21, 22, 28 and 29 November.

“These experiences offer something for everyone – from frequent flyers who miss our world-class in-cabin products and service, to couples and families who want an exclusive dining experience, and parents who are after an enjoyable activity-filled day with their children during the school holidays,” said Singapore Airline’s CEO Goh Choon Phong.
