Taiwanese distillery Kavalan has enjoyed a fruitful year in 2021 having been named distillery or producer of the year by the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC), International Spirits Challenge and San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Kavalan’s achievement has put Taiwan on the worlds’ whisky map, bring Taiwan closer to the top four whisky producing regions of Scotland, Ireland, USA and Japan.
This year is the third year in a row that Kavalan was awarded IWSC’s Worldwide Whisky Producer Trophy.
The Worldwide Whisky Producer trophy is awarded to the highest scoring whisky producer across the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australasia, and this year’s recognition was based on Kavalan’s seven Gold Outstanding and eight Gold medals as well as the Worldwide Whisky Trophy for the Podium Single Malt Whisky.
In addition to the awards won in IWSC, the distillery was also named Producer of the Year by International Spirits Challenge in June and Distiller of the Year by San Francisco World Spirits Competition in May.
The distillery has also collected more than 100 gold medals in various competitions in this year.
“Kavalan has always pushed through barriers to deliver quality while innovating continuously. We will keep striving to bring to our whiskies the exceptional flavour and aromas our fans have come to expect. I thank the judges for this trophy and dedicate it to my hard working team,” said CEO YT Lee.
