Japanese whisky with age statement is returning, as drinks giant Suntory announced that it will resume shipment of Hakushu 12 year in Japan on 30 March after two years of shipment suspension.
This highly popular Japanese single malt was discontinued in June 2018 due to very high demands in recent years that had depleted stocks.
The shortage also affected supply of whiskies with age statements by other Japanese producers.
The new batch of Hakushu 12 Year is distilled in the northern part of Akaishi Mountains which is called the Southern Alps in Japan.
Suntory describes the whisky as having a bright gold colour, the scent of young leaves, green apple and jasmine, and a full and sweet flavour that progresses to a sharp and softly smoky finish.
The company is yet to reveal how many bottles are available but consumers can be sure that quantities will be limited.
Hakushu 12 Year will be available in Japan from Tuesday 30 March, priced at ¥8,500 for a 700ml (23.7 oz) bottle.
