TFWA ASIA PAC DUTY-FREE SHOW PLANNED IN CHINA’S SANYA NOW GOES FULLY DIGITAL

Tax Free World Association (TFWA) announced that the next edition of its Asia Pacific duty-free trade show will move to an all-digital format from 21 to 24 June 2021. This means there will be no physical show in the city of Sanya in China’s Hainan province in June this year.
TFWA announced in its website that the move comes after careful consideration of the unprecedented circumstances surrounding the global health crisis by its board and management committee.
The announcement said the TFWA team is now fully focused on delivering a world class virtual event for industry professionals to ‘meet’, network and learn more about the latest duty free and travel retail developments in the Asia Pacific region in a digital environment.
“Our all-digital format for TFWA Asia Pacific Hainan Special Edition will prove invaluable and enlightening for attendees looking to conduct business in a vibrant online environment, and to gain insight into the rapid recovery of the Asia Pacific travel market,” said TFWA President Jaya Singh.
The TFWA Asia Pacific show has always been held in Singapore, but the organiser announced in last November that the next edition of the show will be held in the Chinese city of Sanya on Hainan island, which has recently become the only bright spot in the world’s travel retail sector.
The Sanya show was originally planned to be a physical one, but now it will only appear online. As it stands now, it's not sure whether future TFWA Asia Pacific shows will be moved from Singapore to Sanya.
