Virtual events to promote the Chianti denomination of Italy to Asian wine professionals started yesterday in Osaka Japan, the events will then move on to Tokyo, Ho Chi Minh city of Vietnam in March and Chengdu of China in April.

Organised by Consorzio vino Chianti with a view to promote Chianti wines in Asia, the events will feature series of virtual seminars with wine presentations and sample tastings.

An online seminar entitled "Chianti DOCG: quintessence of Tuscany - Horizontal tasting of the 2019 vintage" was held in Osaka yesterday to kick start the series of promotions in Asia.

Seven labels of the 2019 vintage were presented representing the various subzones in the Tuscan denomination.

Presiding the seminar was Japanese journalist Isao Miyajima, with president of Consorzio vino Chianti Giovanni Busi and Chianti Wine Ambassador Luca Alves presenting and explaining the wines.

The next event in Japan will be held in Tokyo on 22 March.

The trip moved on to Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh city today with a seminar to deepen the knowledge of six labels representing the different types of Chianti DOCG, i.e. Annata, Superiore, Riserva and Vin Santo del Chianti DOC.

From 3 to 6 April, Consorzio vino Chianti will take the events to China during Vinitaly Chengdu 2021 at the Intercontinental Century City.

Two seminars entitled: "The Chianti DOCG: quality, history, territory, protected and guaranteed in the world" will be presented.

“These promotional activities aim at further strengthening our presence in these markets which, despite of the pandemic and the restrictions in force, continue to show interests and appreciations for the denomination. We are convinced that Asia would become one of the most important markets worldwide in a few years," said Consorzio vino Chianti President Giovanni Busi.
