Whisky enthusiasts can now view The Macallan’s Red collection including the latest added 77 Years Old in Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre during the Art Basel Hong Kong Exhibition running from 21 to 25 March.

The Macallan is an official sponsor of Hong Kong’s Art Basel this year, the art exhibition features an immersive experience to visitors.

The 77 YO was added to the Macallan’s Red Collection late last year, it was the first guest edition to have been added to the collection since its debut in 2020.

The other labels in the Red Collection are The Macallan 40YO, 50YO, 60YO, 74YO and 78YO.

The Macallan 77 YO was priced at USD87,000 when released. It was distilled in 1945, the year the Second World War ended, and had been matured in hand-picked oak casks for seven decades.

The single malt whisky has a unique character showing notes of citrus fruits, woodsmoke, antique oak, raisin, and dates, and baked custard, crystallised ginger, marmalade and dried fruit.

“The Macallan 77 YO is an incredible new high-aged guest expression for The Red Collection, which has been crafted from some of the world’s oldest and rarest casks,” said Macallan whisky maker Kirsteen Campbell when it was released.

“It is a peerless single malt whisky that has slowly matured over seven extraordinary decades until it reached peak perfection. This exquisite release reveals The Macallan’s legacy of incomparable craftsmanship, knowledge and skills nurtured by The Macallan’s master whisky makers, past and present.”
