Leading Scotch brand The Macallan has opened a new retail space in Hong Kong as the company celebrates its 200th anniversary.
Named The Macallan House, the new retail space is located at No1 Stanley Street in Hong Kong’s Central District.
It spans 6,000 square feet across three floors with five main areas, each providing guests with a unique experience.
After a warm welcome on the ground floor, guests can head up to the second floor where they’ll find the Arboretum, a retail and buying space, the Trellis, a bar and tasting area, and the Paragon, where guests can learn about the brand’s history and production process.

On the third floor, guests will find the Horizon, which offers cultural events and exhibitions such as works from Javi Aznarez’s The Heart of the Spirit currently on display, and the Solstice, which provides exclusive VIP events and dining engagements curated throughout the year.
The brand has solicited the help of award-winning architect Jamie Fobert to design the space, whose previous works include the Fondaco dei Tedeschi in Venice and the National Portrait Gallery in London.
The colour red can be seen throughout the space, drawing inspiration from the significance of red throughout the history of The Macallan and its association with its founder Alexander Reid.

The copper walls reflect the iconic stills in the distillery, the use of oak flooring is to pay homage to the sherry seasoned casks used for maturation.
The use of Albariza stone celebrates the home of the sherry wine, Jerez la Frontera in Spain, which gives Macallan whisky its characteristic profile.
“The Macallan House is unlike anything we have unveiled before,” says Jaume Ferras, creative director at The Macallan.
“This is a unique place which captures our unwavering commitment to uncompromised excellence and brings to life the innovation, creativity and connection to nature which have been at the heart of The Macallan for nearly 200 years,” he added.
