Diageo’s Indonesia arm, PT Langgeng Kreasi Jayaprima, is expanding its facilities in Tabanan Bali, allowing the facility to position itself as a key supply hub for Diageo's other markets in Asia.
The expansion will cover an area of 8,800 square meters, construction work has started on 14 October and is expected to finish in 18 months.
"The expansion of our supply centre in Bali is key to our broader regional strategy to better serve customers and consumers across Asia Pacific and contribute to Diageo's global ambitions," said John O'Keeffe, President & CEO of Diageo Asia Pacific, in a statement.
He added that the new facility will support Diageo Asia Pacific’s ambition to increase its contribution to Diageo’s product sales and overall business worldwide. Currently, 19 percent of Diageo’s global sales come from Asia Pacific.
Bali is one of the handful alcoholic beverage production centres in Indonesia because of its Hindu beliefs which do not ban alcohol consumption.
Built in 2014, the Bali factory produces Diageo's Captain Morgan rum, Smirnoff and Smirnoff Ice vodkas, Gilbey's gin and Bell's Scotch whisky, for the Indonesian market.
From 2021 onwards, the Bali facility has begun exporting its products to Thailand, the Philippines and other ASEAN countries.
Once operational, the newly expanded factory is expected to help further boost sales to Southeast Asia as well as the Asia Pacific region.
