Japan’s 98Wines is the only vineyard in Asia to have made to the list of The World’s 50 Best Vineyards 2025 announced earlier in Margaret River in Western Australia.

Located in Japan’s Yamanashi province approximately 100 kilometers from Tokyo, 98Wines is also named the best vineyard in Asia by the awards’ organiser.

98Wines was said to have offered a multisensory vineyard experience. Visitors can hike through the scenic vineyards, savouring panoramic views of Mt. Fuji.

The estate also features an adjacent brewery serving craft beer and a nearby forest hotel where guests can indulge in Japanese cuisine paired with local wines.

Taking the crown this year at No.1 is Chile’s Vik in the Cachapoal Valley, it is also named the best vinryard in the Americas.

After narrowly missing out on the top spot in 2024, it has now been named the world’s best vineyard for 2025, succeeding the previous winner (Bodegas de los Herederos del Marqués de Riscalin Rioja, Spain) which now enjoys an elevated position in the Hall of Fame.

Perched on a hilltop with the Andes mountains in the distance, the winery was said to have combined innovative, sustainable viticulture with striking architectural features, such as its floating, structural roof of bronzed titanium, inspired by the work of Frank Gehry and Richard Serra.

Offering immersive wine experiences and fine dining, guests can dine at Milla Milla, its signature glass-walled restaurant with a majestic wine cellar and views of the valley, and stay in one of 22 themed rooms or seven private bungalows, as well as participate in horseback riding and trekking.

Meanwhile Schloss Johannisberg in Rheingau Germany is named the best vineyard in Europe and ranks No.2 on the list.

Klein Constantia Wine Estate in Western Cape of South Africa is named the best vineyard in Africa at No.6.

The Best Vineyard in Australasia is awarded to Cloudy Bay Vineyards in Marlborough New Zealand at No.26, which is a new entry in this year’s list.
