SINGAPORE CONSUMERS CAN SHOP FOR AIRPORT WINES AT HOME

Singapore consumers can now purchase duty-absorbed wine, champagne and sake online at home without having to travel abroad.

A special website called iShopChangiWines.com was launched on 30 July, through which consumers can purchase 140 labels at the same prices as duty free shops at Changi Airport.

Jointly launched by Hong Kong-bases duty free specialist DFS and Singapore’s Changi Airport, the website allows each consumer to buy up to 30 liters a day, that is about 40 bottles.

Wine, champagne and sake are the three most popular product categories in their duty free shops, according to DFS.

Prices for wine on the iShopChangiWines.com website start from S$25 (USD18) , while prices of sake start from S$30.

Among the exclusive items available on the site are Domaines Barons de Rothschild Reserve Pauillac at S$99 and Champagne Cuvee Carbon Rose at S$499.

Free delivery of the products is available for those who spend over S$150, while those who spend less will have to collect their purchases from Changi Airport’s Terminal 3 Arrival Hall.

DFS and Changi Airport believed that the website could help cut consumers’ costs at weddings, parties, and corporate dinners.

Interested buyers have to set up a new account on the website. They will need to submit their personal information and only those aged 18 and above are allowed to make purchases.

First-time buyers can also make use of a feature on the website where a wine connoisseur will recommend products based on the buyer’s taste.
